This remodel of a traditional brick residence in Atlanta, Georgia, seeks to preserve the small house appeal of the surrounding neighborhood, while opening up and modernizing the interior. The main floor was completely gutted to open up the Living Room to the Kitchen, creating a light filled space that is the center of the house.

A complete second story addition added a full Master Suite, and two additional bedrooms for the client's two children, getting the whole family on the newly created upper floor. Interest is created by expressing the roof lines in the new upstairs spaces, and hinting at the previous house configuration.

The house was the recipient of the Gold OBIE Award in 2013 for the Best Green Remodel project for homes over 2000 s.f., given by the Greater Atlanta Homeowners Association.
