COLVOS PASSAGE HOUSE
The site overlooks the Colvos Passage, a beautiful stretch of the Puget Sound on the Olympic Peninsula overlooking Vashon Island. The client wanted to downsize, and create a minimalist retreat to watch the water, the changes of the seasons, and the passing ships.
The insulated metal panel system that was used allowed for a rapid construction time frame, and a sparse aesthetic that appealed to the clients. The interiors amplify the minimalist look, with a simple shed roof expressed in the Living, Dining, Kitchen area, accentuated with clear cedar ceiling and exposed steel beam supports.
The Entry sequence includes a view across the exterior porch, a turn into an art gallery, and another turn that includes the expansive wall of glass looking out to the view.
